Seluruh naskah harus memenuhi persyaratan berikut.
- Naskah ini memenuhi persyaratan yang disebutkan dalam Panduan bagi Penulis.
- Naskah ini belum perah diterbitkan, tidak pula sedang dalam pertimbangan jurnal lain.
- Remua referensi telah diperiksa akurasi dan kelengkapannya.
- Semua tabel dan gambat sudah diberi nomor dan judul.
- Ijin telah diperoleh untuk menerbitkan semua foto, dataset dan bahan lain yang tersedia dalam naskah ini.
Research Articles
Research Articles present full-length, data-driven original research
employing rigorous methodologies including ethnography, archival
research, policy studies, discourse analysis, surveys, in-depth
interviews, and other established approaches in social sciences
and humanities. Manuscripts must demonstrate a clear analytical
framework and make substantial contributions to understanding
Indonesia–Türkiye relations or comparative perspectives between
both contexts.
Word count: 6,000–8,000 words (including references)
Submissions should include:
• Clear research questions or objectives
• Detailed methodology section
• Original findings with supporting evidence
• Theoretical engagement and analytical discussion
• Implications for the fieldComparative & Analytical Essay
Comparative and Analytical Essays offer thoughtful, well-argued
analyses that either compare phenomena, ideas, institutions, or
practices between Indonesia and Türkiye, or examine a specific
issue within one context while articulating its relevance and
implications for the other. These essays prioritize interpretive
depth, conceptual clarity, and cross-cultural insight over
extensive primary data collection.
Word count: 4,000–6,000 words (including references)
Submissions should:
• Present a clear comparative or analytical framework
• Engage critically with existing scholarship
• Offer original interpretations or conceptual contributions
• Draw meaningful connections between Indonesian and Turkish contexts
• Be accessible to readers from both academic traditionsField/Diaspora Notes
Field/Diaspora Notes are reflective, first-person accounts from
students, early-career researchers, practitioners, or community
members who have lived experience in contexts relevant to
Indonesia–Türkiye connections. We welcome notes from those living,
studying, or working in places such as Bursa, Jakarta, Aceh,
Anatolia, Istanbul, İlahiyat faculties, migrant communities,
philanthropic organizations, cultural institutions, and similar
settings.
This genre is a distinctive feature of Ufuk Journal, and we
strongly encourage submissions that offer grounded observations,
personal reflections, and preliminary insights that may seed
future research or dialogue.
Word count: 2,000–3,000 words
Submissions should include:
• Clear description of context and positionality
• Vivid, reflective observations
• Honest engagement with complexities encountered
• Tentative analysis or questions for further exploration
• Accessible and engaging writing styleTranslation / Source Dossier
Translation / Source Dossiers present annotated translations of
primary source materials that illuminate aspects of Indonesia–Türkiye
connections, accompanied by critical introductions explaining their
social, historical, or institutional context.
Suitable materials include (but are not limited to):
• Short Turkish texts on religious institutions
• Social organization leaflets or pamphlets
• İlahiyat faculty guidebooks or curriculum documents
• Indonesian diaspora da'wah materials in Türkiye
• Community documents and organizational records
• Small archival materials and ephemera
• Excerpts from significant but untranslated works
Translations may be from Turkish to Indonesian/English,
Indonesian/Malay to Turkish/English, or involve any combination
of these languages that serves the journal's scholarly community.
Word count: Maximum 4,000 words (including source text, translation,
annotations, and critical introduction)
Submissions must include:
• Original source text (or relevant excerpts)
• Accurate, readable translation
• Substantive annotations explaining key terms, references, and context
• Critical introduction (800–1,500 words) situating the sourceReview Essay
Review Essays offer critical evaluations of recent books, edited
volumes, or other significant publications relevant to
Indonesia–Türkiye studies. Beyond summarizing content, review
essays should assess the work's contributions, situate it within
broader scholarly conversations, and articulate its significance
for readers interested in comparative or connected approaches to
Indonesian and Turkish contexts.
We particularly welcome reviews of:
• Monographs on Indonesia–Türkiye relations
• Comparative studies involving Indonesia and/or Türkiye
• Works on Turkish Islam, Ottoman history, or modern Türkiye
relevant to Indonesian readers
• Works on Indonesian Islam, Southeast Asian history, or
contemporary Indonesia relevant to Turkish readers
• Edited volumes, translations, or reprints of classic works
Word count: 1,500–2,500 words
Submissions should include:
• Full bibliographic information of the reviewed work
• Summary of main arguments and structure
• Critical assessment of strengths and limitations
• Discussion of the work's contribution to the field
